Hawaii Tops List as Most Expensive State to Raise a Child in the U.S.
A new report by LendingTree has identified Hawaii as the most expensive state to raise a child, with an annual cost of $40,342. The study highlights significant geographic disparities in child-rearing costs across the U.S., with Mississippi being the least expensive at $17,148 annually. The report used data from the U.S. Census Bureau and other sources to assess costs related to rent, food, child care, and other expenses. The findings emphasize the financial challenges faced by families, particularly in high-cost states, and the impact on decisions regarding family size and financial planning.
