Alameda County Implements AI and Cybersecurity Measures to Enhance Government Services
Alameda County has been recognized for its innovative use of technology to improve government services, securing a third-place spot in the Digital Counties Survey for its population category. The county's Information Technology Department (ITD) has focused on implementing artificial intelligence (AI) to expedite data processing and enhance service delivery. Notably, AI tools have been used for real-time audio and video translation, processing 700 files in just ten days, and providing real-time translation during Board of Supervisors meetings. Additionally, the county has deployed AI to analyze out-of-county conviction records. In terms of cybersecurity, Alameda County has adopted a centralized monitoring platform to manage over 10,000 endpoints, successfully blocking more than half a million phishing attempts in 2025. The county plans to further expand its technological capabilities, including enhancing the Sheriff's Real-Time Information Center and modernizing its network infrastructure.
