King Felipe VI Competes in Copa del Rey Sailing Cup, Draws International Attention
King Felipe VI of Spain is participating in the 44th Copa del Rey Mapfre Sailing Cup in Palma, Mallorca. The event, which runs from August 1 to August 8, is one of the Mediterranean's most prestigious sailing regattas, attracting competitors from around 20 countries with over 100 boats. King Felipe made his debut aboard the Hispania, a high-performance racing yacht from the Spanish Navy, marking his first time on the water this summer. The Copa del Rey has historical significance, having been established in 1905 by King Alfonso XIII and revived in 1982 by King Juan Carlos I, Felipe's father, who won the competition five times.
