Woman Sentenced to 13 Months in Prison for Luggage Theft at Salt Lake City International Airport
Leticia Marie Torres, 45, has been sentenced to 13 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release for her involvement in stealing multiple bags from the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) in January 2022. Torres pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting in the theft of baggage from interstate shipment and illegal transactions with an access device. She, along with two other individuals, Brianna Marie Taylor and Charles Masters, was part of a scheme where stolen luggage was delivered to Torres's home. Torres and Taylor also used stolen credit cards found in the luggage, resulting in total losses of $36,599.54 for the victims. Taylor received a similar sentence of 13 months imprisonment and restitution, while Masters, charged separately, was sentenced to two months home detention and three years of probation for stealing thousands of dollars' worth of baggage for personal use.
