Nanna's House to Benefit from 2026 Maine Marathon to Support Foster Families
Nanna's House, a nonprofit organization based in South Portland, has been selected as one of four beneficiaries of the 2026 Maine Marathon. Founded four years ago by Beth Fournier, the Executive Director, Nanna's House aims to provide essential personal care and comfort items to children entering foster care. Fournier established the organization after witnessing the challenges foster families face, particularly the common scenario of children arriving with little to no personal belongings, often carrying their possessions in trash bags. To address this need, Nanna's House maintains a shed behind the Point Community Center, stocked with new items such as clothes, hygiene kits, shoes, books, toys, diapers, wipes, strollers, and blankets. This shed is accessible to caseworkers at all times, allowing them to quickly obtain necessary items for children and families. The nonprofit will receive $5,700 from the Maine Marathon, with Maine Community Bank donating race registration fees to local charities annually. ...
