FBI Investigates Unusual Public Ransom Note in Nancy Guthrie Disappearance
The disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, has taken an unusual turn with the public release of a ransom note. According to Gregory Vecchi, a retired FBI special agent, the public nature of the ransom note is atypical, as such communications are usually kept private between the kidnapper and the family. The FBI, led by Heith Janke, special agent in charge of the Phoenix division, is actively investigating the case, treating it as a criminal investigation. Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, and requires daily medication, which is critical for her health. The FBI is working closely with the Guthrie family, advising them on potential actions regarding the ransom demand. The family has also released a video plea on social media, humanizing Nancy and appealing for her safe return.
