Five Individuals Charged in East Tennessee Interstate Drag Race Incident
Five individuals are facing charges after allegedly orchestrating a 'rolling roadblock' to facilitate a drag race on an East Tennessee interstate. According to court records obtained by WVLT News, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper observed at least three vehicles intentionally slowing traffic on Interstate 140, also known as Pellissippi Parkway, just after midnight on Sunday. This action allowed two other vehicles to position themselves side-by-side before accelerating rapidly in a drag race. The trooper estimated the racing vehicles were traveling at speeds in the high 90s to 100s. All five vehicles were subsequently stopped on the shoulder of Pellissippi Parkway near the Westland Drive off-ramp. The drivers, identified as Dakota Baker, 23, of Maynardville; Tagan Cagle, 22, of Knoxville; Lukas Cox, 22, of Kingston; Caleb Mynatt, 22, of Maynardville; and Jeffery Lynch, 24, of Maynardville, were taken into custody and charged with drag racing.
