Nimoy-Knight Foundation Honors 'Girl Spock' for Aspiring to be First Openly Autistic Woman in Space
The Nimoy-Knight Foundation has awarded Dr. Jessica Schonhut-Stasik, an astrophysicist and neurodiversity advocate, the Live Long & Prosper Tribute Award. Known as 'Girl Spock,' Schonhut-Stasik is recognized for her work in galactic archaeology and her leadership of The Neuroverse Initiative, a nonprofit supporting neurodiversity in space science. The award celebrates individuals who embody the spirit of Leonard Nimoy's legacy of hope, logic, and service. Schonhut-Stasik, diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and OCD, has expressed her ambition to become the first openly autistic woman in space, a goal she hopes to achieve with the support of the Nimoy-Knight Foundation, which has connections to Blue Origin, a private spaceflight company.
