Idaho Fish and Game to Stock Over 210,000 Rainbow Trout in Southeast Idaho Waters
Idaho Fish and Game is preparing to stock over 210,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout in various lakes and ponds across Southeast Idaho during October. This initiative aims to bolster local fisheries and enhance fishing opportunities for anglers. Notable stocking locations include Bannock Reservoir, which will receive 500 rainbow trout, and the Bear River (below Alexander Dam and Oneida Narrows below the Dam), slated for 500 and 1,500 trout, respectively. Blackfoot Reservoir is set to receive a substantial 20,000 trout, while Chesterfield Reservoir, known for its large fish, will get 19,200. Other locations like Crowthers Reservoir, Crystal Springs Pond, Edson Fichter Pond, Montpelier Rearing Pond, and the Snake River (at Shelley) will also receive significant numbers of rainbow trout. This extensive stocking program is a regular effort by Fish and Game to maintain healthy fish populations and support recreational fishing.
