United Way Grant Enhances Ivy Tech's Workforce Training Programs in Evansville
Ivy Tech Community College's Evansville Campus Foundation has been awarded a $192,105 grant from United Way of Southwestern Indiana. This funding is part of a larger $1.1 million Empowering Employment Pathway initiative aimed at supporting workforce training and professional certifications. The grant will bolster Ivy Tech's Work-Based Learning Program, which focuses on providing training for high-wage careers. The program targets low-income and asset-limited individuals, offering them opportunities to increase personal income and improve economic mobility. Ivy Tech has partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Evansville to integrate work-based learning with home construction and industry-specific certifications. The initiative includes training in areas such as financial literacy, leadership, soft skills, construction, early childhood education, commercial driving, artificial intelligence, information technology, and cybersecurity.
