Carmel City Council Reviews Car Week, Notes Increased Enforcement and Quieter Event
The Carmel City Council recently reviewed the annual Car Week event, with the Carmel Police Department presenting a report detailing enforcement activities, residential noise levels, and community feedback. Residents observed that this year's Car Week was quieter compared to previous years, despite ongoing noise concerns. A community survey indicated that 53% of residents either enjoyed or were neutral about Car Week, while 17% expressed dissatisfaction. Police Chief Todd Trayer highlighted the department's efforts to manage the event, which included increased enforcement, shuttle services, and noise monitoring. Enforcement actions saw a significant rise, with traffic stops increasing from 137 to 235, citations doubling from 70 to 139, and parking citations climbing from 320 to 506. The police department plans to continue building on successful measures from 2026, such as additional signage and potentially more speed humps, while maintaining a focus on enforcement and community dialogue.
