Parkway East's New Commercial Street Bridge Reopens Early, Easing Traffic in Pittsburgh
The new Commercial Street Bridge on Parkway East in Pittsburgh has reopened a week ahead of schedule, alleviating traffic congestion for approximately 100,000 daily commuters. The bridge, part of a significant infrastructure project, was completed swiftly due to a $2 million incentive for early completion. The project involved demolishing the old bridge and sliding the new structure into place, marking the largest known bridge slide in the U.S. The reopening allows traffic to resume through the Squirrel Hill Tunnel, significantly improving travel times for local residents.
