Sam Heughan Leads New York Tartan Day Parade Celebrating Scottish Heritage
Actor Sam Heughan, known for his role in 'Outlander,' led the annual Tartan Day parade in New York City as the Grand Marshal. This marks the second time Heughan has taken on this role, having first done so in 2016. The parade is a key event in Tartan Week, which celebrates Scottish culture and Scottish-American heritage. Thousands of participants, including over 1,500 bagpipers and Highland dancers, marched down Sixth Avenue. The event also featured Scottish businesses like Walker's Shortbread, which marked its 50th year of U.S. exports with a giant shortbread Scottie dog display. The parade has historically been led by notable figures such as Sir Sean Connery and Alan Cumming.
