Governor Polis Appoints Three Judges to Colorado District and County Courts
Governor Jared Polis has announced three judicial appointments to various courts in Colorado. Lara Y. Nafziger has been appointed to the 4th Judicial District Court, with her appointment becoming effective on October 1, 2026, following the retirement of the Honorable Michael P. McHenry. Ms. Nafziger currently serves as a Magistrate in the 4th Judicial District, handling juvenile, domestic, and criminal matters. Prior to this, she was a Deputy Public Defender in the Colorado Springs Office of the Colorado State Public Defender. Thomas M. Ward has been appointed to the 17th Judicial District Court, effective immediately, filling the vacancy left by the retirement of the Honorable Arturo G. Hernandez. Mr. Ward is currently a District Court Magistrate in the 20th Judicial District and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado Law School. Lastly, Leeah B.
