Blue Lagoon Cruises' Fiji Princess Grounded Due to Cyclone Vaianu
The MV Fiji Princess, operated by Blue Lagoon Cruises, remains grounded on a reef in the northern Mamanuca Islands after being pushed by adverse weather conditions. The incident occurred on April 4, and all 30 guests and non-essential crew were safely evacuated. Efforts to recover the ship have been hampered by Tropical Cyclone Vaianu, which has also caused widespread flight disruptions in Fiji. The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is overseeing recovery operations, and a salvage specialist from Australia has been appointed to assist.
