Yavapai County Approves $3.4 Million for Sedona Airport Improvements
The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved $3.4 million for significant improvements at Sedona Airport. The funding, primarily sourced from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will address critical repairs to the airport's infield and the 4,400-square-yard Helicopter Six-Pack Parking Apron. Specifically, $2,869,848 is allocated for infield repairs and $598,715 for the helicopter parking apron. The board accepted a $2,726,356 Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act Airport Infrastructure Grant from the FAA, which covers 95% of the costs for both projects. J. Banicki Construction and Dibble Engineering are slated to be the contractors for the infield work. Airport General Manager Ed Rose expressed optimism that construction will commence before the end of the year, or by spring at the latest.
