Lenora Iverson's Passing Marks the End of a Well-Lived Life in Des Moines
Lenora Ione Iverson passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 93. A private service was held at Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines, attended by her immediate family. Born on February 12, 1933, in Bowman, North Dakota, Lenora was raised during the Great Depression on her parents' ranch in Harding County, South Dakota. Her education began in a one-room schoolhouse and concluded at the University of South Dakota, where she joined the Chi Omega sorority. In 1954, she married Norman Iverson, and they moved to Des Moines for his job. Lenora worked at a law firm before becoming a mother. Known for her creativity and resourcefulness, she maintained a large vegetable garden and was an excellent cook and seamstress. Lenora was active in her community, participating in school events, church, and other activities. After her children left home, she and Norman traveled extensively and enjoyed ballroom dancing.
