Kaiser Canyon Fire in Okanogan County Triggers Level 2 Evacuations
A lightning-caused wildfire, named the Kaiser Canyon Fire, is rapidly spreading across the Colville Reservation in northeastern Washington. As of July 18, 2026, at 2:35 p.m. local time, the fire has consumed approximately 12,495 acres and remains at 0% containment. The fire is active south of Buffalo Lake Road and on both sides of State Route 155 near Mile Post 39, moving north. State Route 155 is currently closed from Park City Loop to Rebecca Lake Road. The fire has already destroyed five primary residences, and evacuation orders have been issued for areas including the town of Nespelem, School Loop Road, and Jackson Ranch. The situation remains critical as fire crews work to contain the blaze.
