Midwest Communities Begin Cleanup After Tornadoes and Severe Weather
Communities across the Upper Midwest are engaged in cleanup efforts following a series of tornadoes and severe weather events over the weekend. The storms affected multiple states, including Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Minnesota, resulting in significant property damage and power outages. According to the National Weather Service, at least 66 tornadoes were reported across these states. In Minnesota's Marion Township, approximately 30 homes were damaged, with a dozen suffering significant damage. In Illinois, McClean County declared a disaster emergency due to severe storms in Bloomington, while the village of Lena experienced substantial damage from an EF-2 tornado. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to those affected, offering meals, shelter, and support.
