Congressman Joaquin Castro Criticizes ICE Detention of Immigrant Father and Daughter in Texas
Congressman Joaquin Castro has publicly condemned the detention of an immigrant father, Jesus Bracho, and his 9-year-old daughter, Katherine, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Texas. According to Castro, the pair has been held for over a month at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center. The detention occurred after Texas Department of Public Safety officers initially stopped Bracho, leading to ICE's involvement. Castro accuses Governor Greg Abbott of directing state agents to assist ICE in arresting community members, including children. He has called for the immediate release of Bracho and his daughter, criticizing the broader deportation policies under President Trump and Governor Abbott.
