Thailand-Cambodia Conflict Escalates, Displacing Thousands Along Border
The conflict between Thailand and Cambodia has intensified, with significant military engagements reported along the 800 km-long border. On December 10, both countries exchanged artillery and small-arms fire, with the Royal Thai Air Force conducting airstrikes on Cambodian military infrastructure. The use of unmanned aerial vehicles and loitering munitions has also been reported. The fighting has been concentrated in Thailand's Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani provinces, while in Cambodia, the border regions of Battambang, Banteay Meanchey, Preah Vihear, and Oddar Meanchey have become conflict flashpoints. The U.S. Embassy in Bangkok has advised against travel within 50 km of the border, as the conflict has displaced over half a million people.
