The incident, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals last spring, has raised concerns about the potential misuse of artificial intelligence technologies. Uthmeier's office plans to issue subpoenas to OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, to explore claims that the shooter communicated with the chatbot while committing the crime. The investigation will also examine whether OpenAI's tools could potentially expose users' personal data to foreign entities, such as China. OpenAI has stated its willingness to cooperate with the investigation, emphasizing its commitment to safety and the responsible use of its technology.
