Biloxi Volunteers Clear Historic Cemetery as Council Members Push for Dedicated Maintenance Crew
Community volunteers, led by Ward 3 Councilman Mike Nail and Ward 1 Councilman Wayne Gray, recently undertook a significant cleanup effort at the Old Biloxi Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi. The initiative, which saw dozens of residents, including State Representative Zachary Grady and Harrison County Board of Supervisors President Dan Cuevas, join forces, involved clearing overgrown grass and weeds that had enveloped headstones. The effort began with the councilmen themselves using mowers and quickly expanded into a broader community project. This volunteer action was prompted by residents' complaints regarding the cemetery's condition and highlighted the community's willingness to address local issues directly. The immediate impact was a noticeable beautification of the historic site, transforming areas previously buried in overgrowth.
