Greater DC Diaper Bank Sues Landlord Over Leaking Warehouse, Seeks $775K+
The Greater DC Diaper Bank has filed a lawsuit against WWDC Industrial Park LLC and Donohoe Real Estate Services Inc., the owner and property manager of a Silver Spring warehouse. The lawsuit alleges that years of unresolved roof leaks created unsafe conditions, disrupted the nonprofit's operations, and ultimately forced them to vacate a portion of their warehouse space. The Diaper Bank is seeking over $775,000 in damages, plus pre-judgment interest. According to court documents, the nonprofit repeatedly notified the defendants about water leaks, which allegedly led to water damage, mold, and mildew, rendering parts of the warehouse unsafe for staff, volunteers, and inventory. The problems escalated in 2024, leading the organization to cease operations at the affected warehouse in February 2025 and rapidly distribute over $125,000 worth of products due to lack of safe storage. A Montgomery County health inspector later deemed the warehouse unsuitable for storing products like baby food and formula.
