Former Macon Law Office Manager Accused of Stealing Over $71,000
A former office manager of a Macon-based personal injury law firm, Amanda Jamba Campbell, is accused of stealing over $71,000 from the company. According to an incident report from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office (BSO), the owner of the Law Office of Joe Boyd, LLC, reported the alleged theft on June 16. The owner was alerted by his bank about "unusual transactions" on his Interest on Lawyer Trust Account (IOLTA) on June 8. An IOLTA is used by lawyers to hold clients' money short-term, with the interest typically donated to non-profit legal work. After reviewing the account, the owner found that Campbell allegedly spent $71,555.65 on personal items and ATM withdrawals. When confronted, Campbell reportedly accused her own child of using the card and was fired the same day. BSO arrested Campbell in Houston County on July 14, charging her with fiduciary theft by taking and financial card fraud. She was later released on bond on July 23.
