Bystanders Rescue Four Swimmers in Distress Off Cape Cod
Four individuals, two adults and two children, were rescued by two bystanders after encountering difficulties while swimming off Sandy Neck Beach in West Barnstable, Cape Cod. Barnstable police received a report around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday regarding people possibly in distress in the water. Upon arrival, officers learned that the two children were struggling to return to shore due to a strong current, and two adults, approximately 100 yards farther offshore, were also having trouble making it back to land. The two bystanders reportedly swam out and successfully assisted all four individuals back to the shore. West Barnstable firefighters were on the scene to evaluate everyone involved. Fortunately, no one sustained injuries or required hospitalization following the incident.
