Cold Laser Therapy vs. MLS Laser Therapy: Key Differences for Patients
Cold laser therapy, also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT), is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level red or near-infrared light to influence biological activity in tissue without heating the area. It is often used for pain relief and to reduce inflammation. In contrast, MLS laser therapy, such as the Robotic M7 system, is a high-power, non-thermal device that synchronizes continuous and pulsed emissions for therapeutic purposes. Both therapies fall under photobiomodulation but differ in device, dose, power class, and delivery method. The Robotic M7 is classified as a Class IV laser, requiring careful controls and protective eyewear. It is FDA-cleared for temporary relief of muscle and joint pain, arthritis pain, and muscle spasms, among other uses.
