Great White Sharks Spotted Near Scarborough Beach, Prompting Caution
Several great white sharks have been observed near Pine Point Beach in Scarborough, Maine. The sightings, captured by drone, involved five to seven sharks swimming and feeding close to the shore. This follows earlier reports of two sharks in the area. The Scarborough Police Department suggests that the sharks are attracted by baitfish and seals. Beachgoers are advised to remain vigilant, stay close to shore, and heed lifeguard instructions. No aggressive behavior towards humans has been reported. The Maine coast, at the northern edge of the great white shark's range, has seen increased sightings, possibly due to warming waters and a growing seal population.
