Arkansas Tech University Establishes Dr. Susan Self Memorial Scholarship for Nursing Students
Arkansas Tech University (ATU) has established the Dr. Susan Self Memorial Scholarship to honor the late Dr. Susan Self, a former nursing professor at the university. Dr. Self, who passed away on January 12, 2026, after a battle with cancer, was a beloved educator known for her dedication to students and the nursing profession. The scholarship is designed to support upper division nursing students at ATU who demonstrate financial need, maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0, and are active members of the ATU Student Nurses Association. Applicants must also submit a written statement about personal challenges they have overcome during their nursing education. Dr. Self began her teaching career at ATU in 2008 and became a full-time faculty member in 2012, eventually rising to the rank of associate professor before stepping down due to health reasons in 2025.
