Israeli Man Arrested for Alleged Iran-Linked Plot to Assassinate Former Prime Minister Bennett
A 22-year-old man from Haifa, Israel, named Ami Gaydarov, has been arrested on suspicion of working for Iran and manufacturing explosives as part of a plot to assassinate former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett. The arrest followed a joint investigation by Israel's elite national crime unit, Lahav 433, and the Shin Bet domestic security service. Gaydarov allegedly contacted an Iranian operative to make money and began carrying out assignments for the handler, receiving payments through cryptocurrency and PayPal. Authorities claim Gaydarov produced between 8 and 10 kilograms of explosive material intended for use in an attack on Bennett. He also reportedly passed sensitive wartime information to his Iranian handler during missile attacks on Israel, including details about missile impact sites in Haifa.
