Colin Allred Wins Democratic Runoff Against Julie Johnson in Texas' Redistricted 33rd District
Former Representative Colin Allred has emerged victorious over his successor, Representative Julie Johnson, in the Democratic runoff for Texas' 33rd congressional district. This race was necessitated by a redistricting effort that altered the political landscape, making the 32nd District, previously represented by both candidates, more Republican-leaning. Consequently, Johnson sought election in the more Democratic-friendly 33rd District. The campaign was marked by tensions, with Allred criticizing Johnson's past investments in Palantir, a company associated with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, while Johnson targeted Allred's voting record on immigration issues. Allred, a civil rights lawyer and former professional football player, previously served in Congress from 2019 to 2025. He will now face Republican Patrick Gillespie in the upcoming November election.
