British Forces to Receive New Interceptor Missiles to Counter Iranian Shahed Drones
British forces are set to receive new high-speed interceptor missiles, known as Skyhammer, to defend against Iranian Shahed drones. Developed by Cambridge Aerospace, these missiles were successfully tested in Jordan and are part of a multimillion-pound contract with the UK government. The Skyhammer system is designed to provide cost-effective air defense against loitering munitions, with a range of 30 kilometers and a speed of 700 kmph. This development comes as Western militaries seek affordable solutions to counter the increasing threat of drone attacks, particularly in the Middle East.
