U.S. Treasury Targets Iranian Financier Zanjani's Network for Sanctions Evasion
The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated four individuals and nine entities linked to Babak Zanjani, an Iranian financier, for their involvement in a sanctions evasion network. Zanjani has been using a diverse portfolio, including financial services, gold production, and digital asset trading, to obscure ownership and launder revenue. This network supports Iran's state-linked entities, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Zanjani's operations are primarily conducted through the 'Dot One' conglomerate, which includes various industries such as logistics, telecommunications, and digital assets. The Treasury's action aims to cut off economic access for corrupt Iranian regime elites and their facilitators.
