U.S. Space Command Assumes Control of Redstone Arsenal Facility, Enhancing Space Operations
U.S. Space Command has officially taken operational control of a facility at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This move is part of the command's transition from Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Huntsville. During a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Gen. Stephen Whiting, Commander of U.S. Space Command, highlighted the significance of this development, marking the establishment of the Joint Intelligence Support Element (JISE) at the new location. The JISE, consisting of an 80-person team, will provide critical intelligence analysis to support U.S. space operations. The transition aims to maintain uninterrupted space superiority and readiness. The relocation was announced by the President on September 2, 2025, with plans to have at least half of the command operating from Redstone by the end of 2028.
