Ukraine Expands Naval Fleet with Dutch Alkmaar-Class Minehunter Amid Ongoing Conflict

The Alkmaar-class minehunters are equipped with advanced sonar systems and remotely operated vehicles to detect and neutralize sea mines. However, due to the Montreux Convention, enforced by Turkey since 2022, Ukraine cannot deploy the vessel to the Black Sea until the conflict concludes. The convention restricts the passage of naval military assets through the Dardanelles and Bosphorus straits for countries at war.
