MARTA Board Conducts Final Interviews for Permanent GM/CEO, Decision Expected Soon
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Board of Directors has conducted final interviews for the position of General Manager and Chief Executive Officer. This process, which took place on August 10, 2026, is the culmination of a national search to find a permanent successor to lead one of the largest public transit systems in the United States. Jonathan Hunt has been serving as the Interim GM/CEO since August 2025. The search was managed by the Diversified Search Group (DSG), which conducted a comprehensive outreach campaign across the transportation sector, identifying over 250 candidates. The search committee, led by Jennifer N. Ide, Chair of the MARTA Board of Directors, has narrowed the field to three finalists: Cleveland Ferguson III, Jonathan J. Hunt, and Leroy Jones. The board is expected to make a final decision and announce the new GM/CEO at its meeting on August 13, 2026.
