Indiana Michigan Power Faces Widespread Outages After Severe Storms
Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) reported that approximately 9,000 customers were left without power following severe storms that swept through the region. As of 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, the outages affected over 8,000 customers in Allen County, 670 in St. Joseph County, and fewer than 250 in southwest Michigan. The company has deployed crews to ensure the safety of downed lines and poles, assess the damage, and restore service in areas where the storms have passed. I&M has also warned that additional strong-to-severe storms could occur overnight, potentially causing further damage. The utility company is urging residents to stay away from downed power lines, treating them as energized and dangerous.
