Federal Appeals Court Rules Against Biden in Recording Release Case
A federal appeals court in Washington, DC, has ruled that recordings of Joe Biden discussing his life in politics from 2016 and 2017 should be made public, citing significant public interest. The decision was made by a 2-1 panel of the DC US Circuit Court of Appeals, which determined that the public's right to access these recordings outweighs Biden's privacy claims. The recordings, which are in the possession of the Justice Department, were initially obtained by former Justice Department special counsel Robert Hur during an investigation into whether Biden improperly disclosed national security details to a ghostwriter. The Heritage Foundation and House Republicans are seeking access to these tapes, arguing they could provide insight into Biden's health and memory issues prior to his presidency. Despite the ruling, the tapes will not be immediately released as Biden is expected to continue his legal battle.
