Waco Man Arrested for Allegedly Damaging Police Surveillance Camera in Hewitt
A 20-year-old man from Waco, Ryne Tanner, has been arrested for allegedly destroying a police surveillance camera in Hewitt, Texas. The incident occurred on July 19, when Tanner reportedly used a hard object to damage one of the Hewitt Police Department's License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras. This act not only caused physical damage to the equipment but also disrupted its electronic access function. Tanner was apprehended on July 30 by Lacy Lakeview officers at his workplace and subsequently booked into the McLennan County Jail. He faces charges of Electronic Access Interference, a third-degree felony, and Criminal Mischief, a Class A misdemeanor, with bonds set at $10,000 and $3,000, respectively. The investigation involved footage from nearby private cameras and other LPR cameras at city entry points, leading to Tanner's identification and arrest.
