Chicago Police Respond to Large Crowds at 57th Street Beach Amid Teen Takeover Plans
In Chicago, a significant police presence was required at 57th Street Beach on the South Side following reports of a planned 'teen takeover' on Monday night. The Chicago Police Department, along with the University of Chicago Police Department, responded to the situation as large crowds gathered, causing traffic disruptions. Video footage captured from nearby buildings showed numerous police vehicles along the lakefront, attempting to manage the crowd and redirect traffic. A police helicopter was also deployed to monitor the situation from above. The Office of Emergency Management and Communications reported heavy traffic on northbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive, leading to temporary road closures and advisories for drivers to seek alternate routes.
