South County Hospital Briefly on Lockdown Following Reported Shooter Incident
South County Hospital in South Kingstown, Rhode Island, was placed on lockdown on Monday afternoon following reports of an active shooter. South Kingstown police responded to the scene, but after an investigation, they confirmed that there was no active shooter, no threat identified, and no victims. During the lockdown, incoming patients were diverted to other medical facilities as a precautionary measure. The hospital released a statement emphasizing that the safety of its patients, visitors, and staff was its highest priority and urged the public to rely on official communications. Police conducted additional sweeps of the building to ensure everyone's safety.
