Severe Thunderstorms and Hail Threaten Chicago Area
A warm front is moving through north central and northeast Illinois, bringing the potential for severe weather, including thunderstorms, damaging winds, and large hail. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for several counties in Illinois and Indiana, highlighting the risk of thunderstorms and possible tornadoes. The affected Illinois counties include Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois, Ford, and various parts of Cook and Will counties. In Indiana, Lake, Porter, Newton, Jasper, and Benton counties are also under threat. The storms are expected to intensify late Friday afternoon, particularly south of I-80, and may persist into the evening.
