Crawford County Law Enforcement Arrests Two on Drug and Firearm Charges Following Search Warrant
Two individuals, Kelly R. Schroeder, 56, and James W. Cooper, 64, were arrested in Steelville, Missouri, after the Lake Area Narcotics Group and Crawford County Sheriff's Office executed a narcotics-related search warrant at a residence. Upon arrival, Cooper reportedly resisted deputies' commands, leading to a brief physical struggle before his apprehension. Schroeder complied with law enforcement without incident. During the search, deputies discovered various illegal drugs, including suspected methamphetamine and crack cocaine, along with drug paraphernalia such as digital scales and glass smoking pipes. Additionally, a rifle, shotgun, and a loaded revolver were found in an open closet. Schroeder admitted to daily narcotics use for approximately 15 years and stated she had ceased selling drugs two months prior due to an ongoing investigation. Cooper, a convicted felon, acknowledged possessing the firearms but claimed he was holding them for a friend.
