Los Angeles Mayor Bass and Rick Caruso Partner for Palisades Recreation Center Groundbreaking

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and her former mayoral rival Rick Caruso have joined forces for the groundbreaking of the re-imagined Palisades Recreation Center. This project marks the largest public-private partnership in the history of the Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks, with 100% of the $50 million funding coming from philanthropic donations, primarily through Caruso's Steadfast LA Non-Profit. The initiative aims to restore the 17-acre park, which was significantly impacted by the Palisades Fire. The new center will feature a main building with two indoor basketball courts, two indoor pickleball courts, and community rooms, along with a two-level playground, a new soccer field, and two lighted outdoor basketball courts. Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach JJ Redick, who lost his home in the Palisades Fire, is also a key member of the project through his organization, LA Strong Sports. The project is expected to take 14 to 16 months to complete.
