Cuba Receives Chinese Solar Donation Amid New Tax Incentives for Renewable Energy
China has donated 5,000 photovoltaic systems to Cuba, targeting rural communities, health facilities, early childhood centers, and bank branches. This donation is part of Cuba's broader efforts to address its electricity supply crisis, exacerbated by U.S. sanctions. In response, Cuba has introduced new fiscal incentives to accelerate private and corporate investment in renewable energy. These include sales tax relief, income tax exemptions, and customs duty waivers for renewable energy technologies. The measures aim to reduce Cuba's dependence on imported fuel and alleviate chronic power outages affecting economic activity and social services.
