Record Heat Expected in Northeast with Temperatures 30 Degrees Above Average
The Northeast is bracing for record-breaking heat this week, with temperatures forecasted to soar up to 30 degrees above average for mid-April. According to the New York Post, the tri-state area will see temperatures climb to near 80°F (27°C) on Monday, with potential highs of 90°F (32°C) by Wednesday in parts of New York. This could surpass the previous record high of 87°F (31°C) for April 15, set in 1941. The National Weather Service has indicated that a stretch of above-normal temperatures will persist, likely breaking several daily records. Meanwhile, gusty winds up to 35 mph are expected, increasing the risk of wildfires, especially after recent smaller fires in the South and Northeast.
