Russia Launches Missile and Drone Attacks on Kyiv, Targeting Energy Infrastructure
On February 12, 2026, Russia launched a significant missile and drone attack on Ukraine, focusing on major cities including Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, and Kharkiv. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that 24 ballistic missiles and 219 drones were deployed, with Ukrainian air defenses intercepting 213 targets. Despite these efforts, nine missiles and 19 drones struck 13 locations, causing significant damage to energy infrastructure. In Kyiv, two people were injured, and over 107,000 residents were left without power. The attacks also resulted in injuries in Dnipro and Odesa, with infrastructure facilities severely damaged. The strikes come amid stalled peace talks between Russia and the United States, as Moscow has not committed to further negotiations.
