Evan Newton Takes Over The Monticello News Amid Local Journalism Decline
Evan Newton, a 25-year-old, has recently become one of the youngest newspaper owners in the United States by acquiring The Monticello News, a small weekly publication in southern Georgia. Despite his youth and limited business experience, Newton is now managing a three-person staff along with several freelancers and contract delivery personnel. His office, filled with half-filled reporter notebooks and other eclectic items, reflects his hands-on approach to running the paper.
