Republican Lawmakers Challenge Denver and Boulder Over Sanctuary Policies

Letters demanding information on these policies have been sent to local law enforcement and district attorneys in both cities. The move follows a recent court ruling that dismissed a Trump administration lawsuit against Colorado's sanctuary laws, citing the Supremacy Clause but not compelling state assistance in federal immigration enforcement. Local officials, including Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty, have criticized the congressional oversight as political theater, emphasizing their commitment to prosecuting violent criminals regardless of immigration status.
