Penn State University Opens Registration for Mining Summer Camp Targeting High School Students
Penn State University has announced the opening of registration for its annual 'MINING ROCKS!' summer camp, organized by the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering. The camp is scheduled to take place from July 12 to July 17 at the University Park Campus. It is designed for high school students in grades 10 through 12, offering them a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in mining technology. The camp will accommodate 20 students, allowing for an intimate learning environment where participants can engage in lab work, including rock mechanics and mine design projects. Additionally, the camp includes lectures on critical minerals, environmental, social, and governance issues in mining, and visits to a local mining company and quarry. Students will also tour the campus, including the Energy Institute, to observe real-world research applications.
